在美国如果有机会打电话给客户服务(Customer Service)部门, 如果没意外的话都会听到以下的电话录音, "All of our representitives are currently busy serving their customers. Your call will be answered in approximate 5 minutes" (我们所有的客服人员都在忙着服务他们的顾客, 请等五分钟后, 就会有人接听你的电话), 然后十分钟过去了, "Please continue to hold, your call is very important to us."
如果万不得已一定要请他稍候, 我们要客气一点地说, "Would you mind holding for one minute?" 所以记得要给对方一个明确的时间, 例如 one second 或是 five minites 不要让对方无止境地等下去. 但是如果一分钟到了你还没忙完, 则最好再说一次, "Sorry, I am still on the phone. Could you hold for another minute?" (对不起, 我还在讲电话, 能不能再请你稍候一分钟.)
下面来巩固复习一下今天的收获吧:
Customer Service

Dialogue 对话
Billy: Hi Rachel, I was thinking about doing some online learning courses this year, and wanted to ask you a few questions since I know that you’ve completed some online courses. Whilst doing the research on them, I found that there is so much jargon that I don’t always understand.
Rachel: I know, Billy! I remember thinking the exact same thing when I was looking up courses on the internet. I think a lot of the provided information is often filled with technical terms so that they sound impressive to the layman. What kind of courses are you interested in doing?
Billy: Well originally, I was thinking about doing an MBA, but as that requires such a large time and financial commitment, I might postpone doing that until at least taking a few online courses in areas that I am interested in. This will increase my business acumen and possibly help me in the GMAT.
Rachel: Well Billy, I have done quite a few online courses, including some at university. One thing I found very important was that for the courses to be beneficial, you must be highly motivated to learn. You need to be very
disciplined. I mean, you have to carry out all of your work obligations and then go home and sit in front of a computer and learn about business law, or some such topic. It is very easy to fall behind on your studies if you are not diligent!
Billy: Yes, I could imagine that to be the case, especially if it is a boring or poorly planned syllabus. I really want to avoid falling into this trap, so I am reading up on it as much as possible before I start. Otherwise, I would never have known that E-learning, Open Distance Education; and Web Based Training (WBT) all mean essentially the same thing!
Rachel: That’s definitely a smart plan, Billy. That way, you will know the difference between an MBA and an E-MBA; leadership and management; and be able to work out your opportunity cost!

But remember you are in your position. Please listen to our customers kindly, and don't interrupt them, give them some advice at the proper time. In a word, we should show our sincerity and let our customers know we are kindly helping them to solve their problems!
